The Work Plan signed by the IACHR and the State of Chile is set to stretch over four years, divided in two stages. This plan will involve several activities aimed at complying with long term goals.
For methodological reasons, initial efforts are set to prioritize follow-up concerning recommendations linked to investigations, redress, and mapping about legislative initiatives to regulate social protests. Despite this division, however, the IACHR stresses that all recommendations held in the report are equally important.
The IACHR is set to hold periodic meetings with civil society organizations, victim representatives, independent organizations, and various State institutions. In-person meetings are to be held during the IACHR's annual visits to Chile, the first of which is scheduled for May 2023.
Based on the information it has received, the IACHR will publish an annual follow-up report with the details of measures taken by the State, taking into consideration progress made and challenges encountered while implementing the recommendations held in the IACHR report. Further, the IACHR will seek to provide technical assistance to various State institutions, in compliance with its mandate to prevent human rights violations, ensuring non-recurrence of the events described in the report.
