Work plan

The IACHR and the State of Colombia have formalized a Work Plan for their Joint Monitoring Mechanism to follow up on recommendations made in the wake of the IACHR's working visit to Colombia in June 2021, in the context of the social protests that had erupted in the country on April 28, 2021.

Key aspects

All recommendations are equally important and involve calls for full implementation by the State.

In the context of the Joint Monitoring Mechanism, the IACHR holds periodic meetings with civil society organizations, victim representatives, independent organizations, and various State institutions. In-person meetings are to be held during the IACHR's annual visits to Colombia.

Based on the information it has received, the IACHR will publish an annual follow-up report with the details of measures taken by the State, taking into consideration progress made and challenges encountered while implementing the recommendations held in the IACHR report.
