Washington, D.C.—The Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) will hold its 190th Ordinary Period of Sessions from July 8 to 19, 2024. Public hearings will be held online from July 8 to 12, followed by in-person internal sessions in Washington, DC.

As of March 25, 2024, requests for public hearings from all member states of the Organization of American States (OAS) will be received through the online request system in the organization's four official languages: Spanish, English, Portuguese, and French. The system will be open until 11:59 p.m. on April 15, Washington, DC, time (EST).

Decisions on approved requests will be announced up to one month before the hearings, and the schedule of hearings will be published at IACHR.oas.org up to ten days before the beginning of the 190th Period of Sessions.

The IACHR is a principal and autonomous body of the Organization of American States (OAS), whose mandate stems from the OAS Charter and the American Convention on Human Rights. The Inter-American Commission has the mandate to promote the observance and defense of human rights in the region and acts as an advisory body to the OAS on the matter. The IACHR is made up of seven independent members who are elected by the OAS General Assembly in their personal capacity, and do not represent their countries of origin or residence.
