Washington, DC—The Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) will hold its 195th Period of Sessions from March 2 to 13, 2026. The public hearings will take place in person from March 9 to 13 in Guatemala City, Guatemala.

To this end, the period for receiving requests for public hearings will be open from December 1 to 21, until 11:59 p.m. (Washington, D.C. time). Requests must be submitted through the electronic system available in the four official languages of the Organization of American States (Spanish, English, Portuguese, and French).

In accordance with the IACHR’s Rules of Procedure, decisions regarding approved requests will be notified to the parties at least one month prior to the start of the Period of Sessions. Likewise, the schedule and venue of the hearings will be published on the IACHR website (CIDH.org) up to ten days before the start of the 195th Period of Sessions.

The IACHR is a principal and autonomous body of the Organization of American States (OAS), whose mandate stems from the OAS Charter and the American Convention on Human Rights. The Inter-American Commission has the mandate to promote the observance and defense of human rights in the region and acts as an advisory body to the OAS on the matter. The IACHR is made up of seven independent members who are elected by the OAS General Assembly in their personal capacity, and do not represent their countries of origin or residence.
