Objetives
To contribute to the advancement
of renewable energy technologies and low carbon economic growth in the context
of the Energy and Climate Partnership of the Americas, and to the reduction of
region’s potential contribution to climate change, while promoting its overall
economic development. The program
focuses on identifying the measurement challenges associate with climate science
and renewable energy (RECS) and developing measurement capabilities to address
those challenges.
The project is promoting
A
sustainable low-carbon economy development
The
implementation of renewable energy and climate change science (RECS)
policies in the Americas
Awareness
within National Metrology Institutes (NMIs) in each country regarding their
measurements and standards capabilities on RECS
Scientific discovery, innovation and R&D intensive growth
Knowledge
sharing, cooperation and dialogue among the SIM community
The well
being and security of citizens of the Americas
General Description
The program is being implemented by the
Department of Sustainable Development (DSD) through its Sustainable Energy
Section, in partnership with the National Institute of Standards and Technology
(NIST). The initiative contemplates regional support through workshops and
regional capacity building activities, seminars, individual training, exchange
missions and assistance in the development of an action plan to improve the
region’s technical capacity on RECS. The project efforts compliment and support
NIST’s activities concerned with measurements and standards supporting renewable
energy and climate science in the hemisphere.
